DataStax database runs on Google Compute Engine 

The Enterprise-class NoSQL database shows its mettle on the new compute engine from the search and services giant

Businesses using the cloud, or indeed with any requirement to stay online on a continuous basis and work with large volumes of data, may currently thinking about working more with Google’s new Compute Engine, which recently became available to applications developers. A compute engine is, however, only one part of the argument, for there is then a need to ensure that data is managed and available inn a way that is optimised to work with it.

One possible solution to this may come from DataStax  and its eponymous DataStax Enterprise system. The company recently announced that it has tested DataStax Enterprise on Google Compute Engine. The combination is aimed to allow companies to deploy their critical applications on the Google Cloud Platform and grow their data to extremely high capacity levels, while making sure they remain online at all times.

DataStax and Google engineers collaborated on the exercise to test and validate the scalability, reliability and performance of mission-critical online applications that are built on DataStax Enterprise with Google Compute Engine. The in-depth testing resulted in positive outcomes for scenarios involving the need for operational stability, predictable response times, assured data persistence, and good disk I/O performance under load.

The company sells an enterprise-grade NoSQL database that seamlessly and securely integrates real-time data with Apache Cassandra, batch analytics, enterprise search, as well as visual monitoring and management. The integration allows enterprises to leverage valuable data in real-time, in the context of their critical business application.

It is already used by more than 300 customers, including eBay, Netflix, Adobe, Constant Contact and Ooyala, as well as 20 companies within the Fortune 100. DataStax customers who choose Google Compute Engine can leverage the world-class cloud platform provided by Google to quickly and easily deploy DataStax applications.
