DigiCert integrates DMARC monitoring in UltraDNS: a unified approach to email security

DigiCert's UltraDNS has integrated Valimail’s DMARC monitoring for enhanced email security, offering consolidated DNS management and authentication solutions.

DigiCert has introduced a new integration within its UltraDNS platform that incorporates DMARC monitoring capabilities from Valimail. The integration enables one-click activation of DMARC monitoring, allowing organisations to identify email services operating under their domains. By combining DNS management with email authentication, the platform is designed to help security teams identify authentication issues, detect unauthorised senders, and improve visibility into phishing and domain impersonation risks.

Email remains a primary channel for phishing and domain spoofing attacks. While DMARC is widely used to help protect domains and verify email authenticity, many organisations manage separate tools and reporting systems for DNS and email authentication, which can make it more difficult to maintain a complete view of their email environment.

The UltraDNS platform automates the configuration of DNS records required for DMARC monitoring while preserving existing mail settings. The integration enables organisations to monitor DMARC, SPF, and DKIM authentication activity through Valimail.

The integration allows organisations to:

  • Identify services that send email on behalf of their domains.

  • Detect authentication failures involving DMARC, SPF, and DKIM.

  • Identify unauthorised senders and potential impersonation attempts.

  • Monitor compliance with authentication requirements from Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo.

  • Enable DMARC monitoring with minimal disruption to existing mail flow.

  • Extend monitoring from individual domains to larger domain portfolios through centralised DNS management.

When Valimail Monitor is activated, UltraDNS automatically applies the DNS changes required for monitoring. If no DMARC record exists, UltraDNS creates one in monitoring mode (p=none). If a DMARC record is already present, Valimail's reporting is added without changing existing policies or affecting mail delivery. Monitoring can be deployed across a single domain or multiple domains through the UltraDNS portal, providing centralised visibility across distributed environments.

The integration forms part of DigiCert's broader platform strategy, which combines DNS, PKI, and digital trust services. By integrating UltraDNS with Valimail's DMARC monitoring capabilities, organisations can manage email authentication alongside other digital trust services within the same platform.

Valimail's DMARC monitoring capability is now available through the UltraDNS portal.
