The cool revolution: ReGen III's foray into immersion cooling

ReGen III enters the booming immersion cooling market with sustainable, cutting-edge Group III base oils.

ReGen III Corp., a forefront innovator in clean technology, is making waves in the burgeoning immersion cooling market with its re-refined Group III base oils. These oils are poised to play a pivotal role in this rapidly evolving industry.

Immersion cooling, an innovative venture in thermal management, involves submerging servers in a specialised non-conductive fluid. This method allows for remarkable thermal regulation, significantly enhanced energy efficiency, and diminished water usage when compared to conventional air-based cooling techniques. As demand for cooling solutions escalates globally, driven by AI and chip advancements, immersion cooling stands as an essential pillar for future data centres, AI frameworks, and enormous computing infrastructures.

Forecasts indicate that the market for liquid immersion cooling, currently appraised at USD 2.1 billion in 2024, is expected to more than triple, reaching USD 7.2 billion by 2030.

Hydrocarbon-based fluids are anticipated to dominate the market with a significant share, owing to their performance and cost efficiency. Synthetic base oils, notably Group III, are progressively being chosen for their purity and stability, making them ideal dielectric fluids for single-phase immersion cooling.

ReGen III's circular economy approach with high-grade, re-refined Group III base oils assures purity while enhancing the longevity of products and lowering environmental footprint. The process substantially reduces CO₂e emissions compared to oils derived from virgin crude, aligning with standards from initiatives like the Open Compute Project (OCP), committed to sustainable practices and long-lasting operational solutions.

Tony Weatherill, the CEO, highlights that their solutions resonate with the surging market's transition towards environmentally sustainable and economically viable immersion cooling technologies, particularly amid increasing scrutiny on legacy dielectric fluids.

To bolster their position in the immersion cooling domain, ReGen III has formed a Special Committee dedicated to exploring strategic paths. The committee is set to assess options such as joint ventures, technical collaborations, long-term supply agreements, and programmes for product qualification and commercialisation. These initiatives promise to integrate ReGen III's advanced base oils into emerging markets such as immersion cooling and EV thermal management systems, marking a significant step forward for the company.
