atNorth has acquired land in Norway for a planned data centre development called NOR01.
The proposed site is a 36-hectare area in Haugaland Business Park, intended to support high-density computing workloads suitable for large-scale deployments. The project is planned with an initial power capacity of around 120MW, with a possible expansion up to 350MW over time.
The site is currently expected to become operational in 2028. Its power infrastructure design includes two substations, one to be developed by Statnett and another supported by Fagne. The project also includes ongoing evaluation of potential heat reuse options in coordination with local stakeholders.
Norway is a frequent location for large-scale data centre developments due to factors such as access to renewable energy, stable political and economic conditions, established connectivity infrastructure, and a cooler climate that can reduce cooling requirements and improve energy efficiency.
This expansion adds to atNorth’s existing activities across the Nordic region. The company has also announced a planned large-scale site, SWE04, in Sollefteå, Sweden, along with other developments in Sweden and Finland, as well as recent expansions in Iceland focused on supporting workloads such as AI and high-performance computing.
