Schneider Electric, renowned for its digital transformation of energy management and automation, has achieved a remarkable milestone. Its distribution centre in Evreux, France, has been named a Sustainability Lighthouse by the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network.

This accolade underscores Schneider Electric’s dedication to promoting circularity and sustainable innovation. The Evreux site stands as the company's first circular distribution hub, adopting an ingenious "use better, longer, and again" model. Over the past two years, the centre has impressively reduced its energy consumption by 18% and cut back on single-use plastics by 40%.

This recent recognition marks Schneider Electric's sixth Sustainability Lighthouse status, the highest number achieved by any company in the Global Lighthouse Network, affirming its leadership in sustainable industrial transformation.

Sustainability measures implemented at the Evreux site include:

  • A digital customer platform managing orders and take-backs for over 3,000 products
  • A data model connecting products to repair, refurbishment, and repackaging centres
  • Circular solutions applied in packaging, transportation, and energy management
  • The use of EcoStruxure Resource Advisor and EcoStruxure Building Operation for energy monitoring

Mourad Tamoud, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Schneider Electric, reflects on the recognition: "This recognition from the Forum reflects the dedication of our teams to embed sustainability into every aspect of our operations. At Evreux, we've reimagined the role of a distribution centre - not as a logitsitcs hub, but as a catalyst for circularity"

The Global Lighthouse Network is a World Economic Forum initiative, co-founded with McKinsey & Company. It celebrates industrial sites that exhibit leadership in digital transformation and operational excellence. The 2025 cohort features 12 new sites spanning seven countries, with recognition of Schneider Electric's Evreux DC for its sustainable accomplishments.

Kiva Allgood, Managing Director and Head of the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains at the World Economic Forum, remarks: "The organisations that will shape the future are those driving holistic transformation today. Congratulations to the new Lighthouse cohort that demonstrates how forward-thinking companies across industries and segments are putting this vision into action, setting a new global standard for operational excellence and impact."

This accolade emphasises Schneider Electric’s ongoing leadership in sustainable manufacturing, following similar recognitions, such as its Wuxi factory in China.
