Portus Data Centres welcomes new CEO and plots strategic growth

Portus Data Centers strengthens its leadership with new CEO Falk Weinreich amid ambitious expansion plans across regional markets.

Portus Data Centers, a renowned provider of carrier-neutral collocation solutions, has appointed Falk Weinreich as its new Group CEO. Weinreich, previously of OVHcloud, brings his expertise in managing European cloud expansions to bolster Portus during a period of rapid growth.

Weinreich's extensive experience in infrastructure development, energy-efficient data centres, and high-performance IT environments positions him as a formidable asset to the company's management. His vision aligns with Portus' strategy to further dominate regional markets through scalable, sustainable IT solutions.

Highlighting its impressive geographical reach, Portus operates highly integrated data centres in select regional markets such as Munich, Hamburg, and Luxembourg. The firm sets itself apart with a focused buy-and-build approach to cater to the increasing demands of digital infrastructure brought forth by technologies like AI, Cloud Computing, Edge Computing, and IoT.

Weinreich commented on the company's strategic vision by stating, "The market for digital infrastructure is booming and new technologies... are driving increasing demand for high performance data centres which we are addressing with targeted investments.

"Together with Arcus, we are investing in energy-efficient infrastructure solutions close to our customers and are specifically strengthening key technology and business locations."

This new leadership has already spurred plans for strategic investments. Notably, Portus is expanding its MUC2 data centre near Munich, adding 5.5 MW to a total of 7 MW IT capacity, available from early 2027. Similarly, new ventures within its Hamburg campus anticipate a whopping 12.8 MW IT capacity, signifying Portus' commitment to regional dominance.

Furthering this momentum is the ongoing expansion of the Luxembourg data centre by adding 1.2 MW of IT capacity. Aligning with future growth, the company is also strategising additional projects across Germany and its neighbouring regions.

Adriaan Oosthoek, Chairman of Portus Data Centers, remarked, “We are thrilled to get Falk on board...  customer demands is very strong and the business is at a real inflection point..."

This structured approach not only reinforces Portus' foothold in the regional colocation sector but also strengthens its position as a key player in fortifying Europe's digital sovereignty. As demand for state-of-the-art data centres escalates, Portus, under Weinreich's leadership, emerges as a formidable force addressing these needs with precision and foresight.
