Africa Data Centres, a division of Cassava Technologies, has proudly announced its attainment of Level One B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) certification. This recognition marks the organisation as the first carrier- and cloud-neutral data centre within South Africa to reach such a prestigious status.

According to Ziaad Suleman, CEO of Cassava Technologies South Africa and Botswana, "Achieving Level One B-BBEE status is a key milestone for our business in South Africa, reflecting our core values and our commitment to a more inclusive digital future." He expressed immense pride in this achievement and affirmed the company's dedication to supporting local talent, black-owned suppliers, and underserved communities.

The Level 1 B-BBEE status grants Africa Data Centres significant advantages, offering clients and partners maximum B-BBEE compliance points, 135% procurement recognition, and enhanced competitive leverage within the South African business environment. This proud accomplishment may also facilitate access to tax incentives and other benefits that support economic transformation initiatives.

Endorsed by the ratings agency Empowerdex, the certification stands as a testament to Africa Data Centres' commitment to transformation, inclusive growth, and sustainable impact within the region's digital and economic framework. Acknowledged for its leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion across the ICT and infrastructure sectors, the company remains at the forefront of South Africa's digital evolution.

The top rating further highlights Africa Data Centres’ consistent investment in the nation's human capital and economic development. Through various enterprise and supplier development programmes, along with skill-building initiatives and inclusive hiring practices, the company actively contributes to job creation and increased economic participation.

As the operator of Africa's largest interconnected and vendor-neutral data centre platform, the new Level One status fortifies its position as a favoured partner for both public and private sectors. This strategic advantage accentuates its ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive digital and economic transformation throughout South Africa.
