NETSCOUT's InfiniStreamNG revolutionizes energy efficiency in data centers

Explore how NETSCOUT's InfiniStreamNG system advances energy efficiency to support IT infrastructure sustainability amid rising global data center energy consumption.

NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC. has revealed that the efficient design and architecture of its InfiniStreamNG solution, enhances energy efficiency hence reducing operational costs and promoting IT infrastructure sustainability. As global data centre energy consumption escalates, driven by digital transformation and AI advancements, NETSCOUT’s innovations appear timely and necessary.

According to the International Energy Agency, global data centre electricity consumption is expected to more than double by 2030. This increase will see US data centres consuming more electricity than multiple energy-intensive industries, such as production of aluminium, steel, cement and chemicals, combined.

NETSCOUT’s nGeniusONE and InfiniStreamNG solutions were built to offer comprehensive network visibility and analytics. The company eschews multi-appliance architectures, instead integrating capabilities within the InfiniStreamNG probe resulting in a more streamlined energy efficient deployment.

The key advantages of this approach include:

  • Quantifiable energy and cost reductions: NETSCOUT’s InfiniStream solution boasts an average electricity use reduction of 23 percent (10 customer sample covering 500 devices) without compromising performance.
  • Decreased rack space and simpler deployments: By reducing the number of physical appliances, the consolidated architecture saves rack space while lowering energy use.
  • Intelligent data processing: With advanced data filtering, the InfiniStreamNG processes data only from essential protocols, reducing compute and storage demands, slashing energy usage.

“By applying our deep expertise in hardware technology, we’ve optimised the InfiniStreamNG platform to reduce complexity, lower energy and operational costs – while delivering the network visibility required to manage today’s increasingly complex environments,” Ray Jones NETSCOUT's senior director, platform product management said. “This capability is critical as organisations face mounting pressure to improve data centre efficiency in response to explosive AI-driven growth.”

Furthermore, NETSCOUT has set ambitious sustainability goals. The company targets 57.4 percent reductions in Scope 1 direct emissions and 42 percent cuts in Scope 2 indirect emissions by FY2030 from a FY2022 baseline. These targets have received validation from the Science-Based Targets initiative, and NETSCOUT is on track to meet or exceed them.

Through these initiatives, NETSCOUT not only positions itself as an industry leader in network solutions but also as a significant player in promoting a greener, sustainable tech ecosystem.
