Vespertec, Sardina Systems, and Borealis Data Center have launched IceCloud Integrated Services, an integrated IT solution that simplifies operations, offers optimised pricing, and is powered by 100% sustainable energy. By uniting, these three industry leaders have built a highly customisable private cloud solution that exceeds enterprise requirements for a low-cost scalable platform to run cloud-native workloads, including AI and other compute-intensive workloads.
The partners have built a fully operational proof-of-concept cloud environment available for customers to test drive. Hosted at Borealis Data Center, a secure facility powered entirely by sustainable energy, the cloud is built using Fish OS, Sardina’s OpenStack, with both block and object storage using Ceph.
The three companies are each leaders in their field, contributing expertise to offer IceCloud Integrated Services:
Sardina Systems, a prominent European software developer, contributes its award-winning cloud platform with comprehensive professional services and technical support.
Vespertec, an expert in high-performance data centre infrastructure, provides competitively priced, vendor-neutral hardware, and dedicated project management and troubleshooting.
Borealis Data Center, based in Iceland, offers its facilities that utilise 100% renewable, zero-waste low-cost energy for computing.
This approach guarantees reliability and operational efficiency, dramatically reducing environmental impact to help medium and large enterprises meet their ESG obligations whilst also offering a lower-cost cloud solution, especially for new workloads such as AI.
Kristófer Andri Kristinsson, Product Manager and Business Development Manager at Borealis Data Center, said: "The launch of IceCloud Integrated Services represents a significant step forward in sustainable computing. As economic pressures and environmental challenges pose conflicting demands on businesses, IceCloud eliminates this dilemma. By leveraging Iceland's 100% renewable energy, we are not only reducing the environmental impact of intensive workloads but also offering a cost-effective solution for enterprises looking to scale their operations responsibly."
Kenneth Tan, Executive Director at Sardina Systems, said: "With active digitalization in industries such as finance and media, sustainable development options are limited. The IceCloud Integrated Services project, with its innovative way of packaging workloads, allows medium-sized and large enterprises with systems of 1-2 racks of 80-90 nodes each to achieve significant savings. These include up to a 50% reduction in energy consumption during off-peak hours and a 38% overall reduction, translating to substantial operational cost savings."
Philip Kaye, Co-Founder and Director at Vespertec, said: "Partnering with Sardina Systems and Borealis Data Center allows us to deliver a truly bespoke and robust cloud solution. IceCloud Integrated Services combines top-tier hardware, cutting-edge software, and renewable energy to provide enterprises with a reliable, high-performance platform tailored to their specific needs."
