Aegis Data and vScaler expand partnership

vScaler deploys its private cloud services in Aegis Data’s market-leading facility to ensure high speed connectivity and security.

Private cloud specialist vScaler is significantly expanding the scope of its partnership with colocation data centre provider Aegis Data, to offer its customers superior connectivity and processing power and enable them to access the full potential of the modern cloud solution. Aegis Data’s market-leading facility Aegis ONE, will provide the cooling, power and necessary infrastructure to support vScaler’s advanced cloud technology.

As part of this expansion, Aegis Data will be installing a secure private cage environment for vScaler within the Aegis ONE facility. In doing so, this reinforces Aegis Data’s position as a flexible data centre provider, that has the capacity and scalability to respond to any IT requirement of its customers.

Glenn Rosenberg, Director of Cloud and Managed Services at vScaler, commented: “Developing our partnership with Aegis Data is a hugely important step for our business. Our primary focus is on offering our clients the support that they need to run their critical business operations in the cloud, and giving them the flexibility and scalability, as well as the performance, to develop their IT infrastructure and benefit from revolutionary technology such as Deep Learning analytics and artificial intelligence. We found that Aegis Data’s impressive facility exceeded even our advanced requirements. In addition, the location just outside London fitted the bill perfectly as it offered the necessary connectivity into Soho that allows us to service the post-production houses based there, one of our target markets, without the increased costs and security implications of an urban data centre.”

vScaler’s private cloud platform is built on Open Source technology, enabling organisations to deploy their own on premise private cloud within minutes, adding services and applications easily, and scaling their operations to public or hybrid clouds on-demand. vScaler’s private cloud platform also allows for the deployment of multiple innovative technologies such as Big Data analytics, deep learning algorithms and, most importantly, High Performance Computing (HPC). The solution includes the latest generation NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerators, Intel Scalable system CPUS and Mellanox RDMA enabled fabrics.

Aegis ONE is one of just two HPC-ready data centre providers in the UK, offering the cooling and power supply necessary to support contiguously stacked racks. The Direct Fresh Air Cooling that Aegis ONE has implemented, which draws in cool, ambient air, mixes and filters it to ensure optimal humidity and temperature, ensures that high-performing servers can continue running even in the most intense periods of IT activity. This is critical for GPU accelerated cloud servers that utilise technologies such as deep learning algorithms and HPC, as servers require additional power to run these applications and therefore need an equally powerful cooling system.

Greg McCulloch, CEO at Aegis Data, concluded: “We are delighted to be expanding the scope of our partnership with vScaler. As IT architecture increasingly moves towards the cloud, data centres will be critical in providing the supporting infrastructure that ensures the reliable running of cloud-based applications and processes. We have specifically designed Aegis ONE with high power and energy efficient cooling systems in mind, and our partnership with the Open Compute Project means that we have access to the very latest data centre hardware, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations. Continuing to work with a prominent cloud provider such as vScaler is a powerful testament to the important role that colocation data centres will play in the evolution of cloud technology, and we look forward to developing this partnership further in years to come.”
