Volta and C4L join forces
Delivering direct connections to AWS in central London.

The developer and operator of central London’s newest purpose-designed, carrier-neutral data centre, Volta Data Centres and coreTX fibre network owners C4L, have announced colocation solutions are available via Amazon Web Services (AWS) at Volta Data Centres as part of C4L’s Service Provider (SP) Connect service.
The solution allows customers of Volta to be able to take advantage of Amazon Web Services directly from their IT infrastructure by using C4L’s private fibre network between Volta and AWS. This results in higher performance and greater security as AWS traffic routes directly rather than traversing a public Internet circuit, furthermore, bandwidth charges from AWS are lower on direct connections vs public links.
C4L has pioneered many unique services since it launched back in 2000 and is recognised as the UK’s largest privately owned fibre network provider for media and business customers. The company’s 100Gbps MPLS network covers all of central London, and key PoPs across the UK providing direct access to AWS as well as many other cloud and communications service providers including Azure. SP Connect is available at all On-Net DC/PoPs on the coreTX network, this includes over 50 sites in the UK, with this number growing month on month. coreTX is entirely owned and operated by C4L utilising a privately owned fibre network between all sites, with equipment from leading providers such as Juniper Networks. This design allows coreTX to be extremely powerful, scalable and flexible, customers can activate SP Connect ports and services at 100Mbps, 1Gbps and up to 10Gbps, on request coreTX they can even offer 40Gbps or 100Gbps where required. Simon Mewett, CEO of C4L, comments: “By removing the need to physically deploy equipment in the same location as a Service Provider, coreTX removes commercial barriers and opens up a huge opportunity. Service Provider, (SP), Connect enables businesses, carriers, ISPs and content providers to realise the full potential of the coreTX network, by connecting directly to multiple service providers in any location, no matter where their equipment is physically located. This can be thought of in terms of using coreTX to deliver a 'very long cable' between your equipment located in a specific data centre, and connecting this with a service provider in another location. This provides you with all the benefits that you would gain if you were colocated in the same data centre as the provider.”
