CTERA supports AWS S3 storage tier

CTERA Networks is supporting for Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) new storage as a service offering, Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) Standard – Infrequent Access (Standard – IA).

This new tier of cloud storage is designed to meet the needs of customers who store and retain long-term data at $0.0125 per GB per month to combine cost savings and high performance and deliver an ideal solution for cloud-based data protection and disaster recovery. The CTERA Platform, integrated with Amazon S3 Standard-IA, enables organizations to “bring their own” virtual private cloud storage to power several file services and data protection use cases at as much as 90 percent less total cost of ownership (TCO) than traditional on-premises environment storage solutions.

CTERA’s Enterprise File Services Platform for AWS combines Amazon S3 with on-premises cloud storage gateway appliances, managed end-point software agents, and mobile apps all in a unified, hybrid architecture that delivers storage, data protection, and collaboration capabilities in a single, cost-effective solution. CTERA is an AWS Partner Network (APN) Storage Competency Partner, and achieved the designation from AWS based upon CTERA’s customer successes, technical proficiency, and product portfolio.
The CTERA Platform can be securely deployed on an organization’s virtual private cloud infrastructure of choice, such as Amazon S3, and charges no infrastructure capacity costs. This deployment flexibility can enable enterprise customers to realize significant cost savings as the cost of storage continues to decrease.

“We are pleased to offer a new storage class that provides additional flexibility for the varying storage requirements of our customers,” said Bill Vass, Vice President of AWS Storage Services, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “CTERA’s support for Amazon S3 – IA means that enterprises have additional choice and flexibility for how they deploy enterprise file services that store, protect, and govern organizational data everywhere.”
