The Hosting Services Framework is designed to maximise efficiency, collaboration and achieve significant cost savings in Scotland’s public sector, by providing organisations with easy access to sustainable and reliable hosting services. Buyers can purchase services through a mini-competition tender process via the framework where all suppliers are invited to bid, or they can purchase direct where they can identify their specific requirement via the catalogue and can identify best value. With the new framework, the Scottish Government hopes to further Scotland’s Digital Future by exploring more efficient forms of hosting services, while also generating economic growth and local employment opportunities.
“We are delighted to be on the new Scottish Government Framework,” said Malcolm Smith, Account Director at brightsolid. “The framework allows us to strengthen relationships in the Scottish public sector that we have built over the last 15 years. This is a very exciting time for us as we near the opening of our next Tier III data centre in Aberdeen. Our innovative approach to IT means that we are one of the most carbon and cost effective data centre and cloud providers in the country. We’re pleased that public sector organisations across Scotland can now take advantage of this.”
In hosting sensitive information and critical infrastructure, framework suppliers must surpass expectations in operational excellence and efficiency. Meeting the highest standards of security compliance, reliability and technical innovation, brightsolid’s two Tier III+ data centres in Dundee and Aberdeen will provide the public sector with the first Scottish Microsoft Cloud OS partnership and Azure enabled cloud platform. Managed round the clock by an in-house team of expert engineers, the private cloud provider delivers 99.99% uptime as standard and is certified as ISO 27001:2013 security compliant. This level of security and reliability means that brightsolid can safely provide Scotland’s public sector with innovative and robust hosting services that meet the Scottish Government’s strict criteria.
brightsolid Aberdeen, under SLA (service level agreement) from 1st October 2015 will hold 400 racks and operate a power usage efficiency 80% less than the national data centre average. This allows brightsolid to deliver innovative, valuable IT solutions at a disruptive price.
