Fedr8 develops the software solution “Argentum” that has cracked one of the IT industries hardest problems: how to move complex legacy applications into Cloud environments. Launched only this summer, Argentum has already won two prestigious IT industry awards, including being voted Europe’s “most innovative Cloud start-up” at the Eurocloud awards in September 2014.

Now based in the USA, British-born Mike founded Camwood, one of the largest application management consultancies in the UK. Its clients include Morgan Stanley, BAE Systems, JP Morgan, BNP Paribas, AMEC and Marks & Spencer.

Mike also co-founded AppDNA, another British IT company which he built from scratch and sold after just four years to Citrix Systems, a Nasdaq-quoted global software giant. Mike also sits on the board of other various IT related companies.

Mike plans to be a hands-on director of Fedr8. Early next year, he will assist Dean Chapman, Fedr8’s CEO, execute the growth strategy and expand the business into new geographies, including the important North American (NA) market.

Dean Chapman, CEO of Fedr8, said: "To have secured Mike’s investment and ongoing hands-on support is a major step forward for Fedr8. In fact, it’s a game changer.  Mike has the right contacts and experience we need to grow and grow quickly. With his background and knowledge, Mike grasped right away how Argentum has the potential to be a globally significant software product, helping companies transform their existing complex legacy applications to take full advantage of the Cloud.”

Welling added: “It’s not often you come across such innovation and creativity that the Fedr8 team has achieved to date. I’ll be working closely with Dean and the team to help the business grow and take advantage of the huge potential it faces. The opportunity for migrating complicated legacy applications to the Cloud has proved a big stumbling block and Fedr8 has made the whole process much simpler and much less expensive. I look forward to introducing Argentum to the market where it has a great chance of being a big hit.”
