Cloud-delivered payment services are now a crucial capability for any business looking to trade online, and that now means the ability to trade, securely, with both business and consumer customers using credit cards.

A growing number of service providers are now moving in to offer such services, primarily with Payment Card Industry & Data Security Scheme (PCI DSS) certification. One of the latest is  “The Netsize mobile payment platform offers an unrivaled gateway to the vast and rapidly growing global market for digital services and content on handheld devices, which generated sales worth €1 billion during 2012”

Netsize, which recently gained PCI DSS certification. The company already offers a payment platform for operator billing, but sees the certification allowing to now securely store end-user credit card details and allow it to offer convenient, immediate transactions.

The capability is being pitched at mobile and digital content providers, which will now be able to offer consumers an wider range of secure payment options, including higher transaction limits, to a potential market of two billion consumers and three billion devices.

The Netsize payment platform already enables content providers to connect directly to the billing platforms of 160 mobile network operators in over 50 different countries, supporting seamless payments directly from a handset for purchases of apps, music, images and videos.

By meeting the stringent requirements of the globally recognised PCI DSS standard, Netsize expects to gain more flexibility to its mobile payment ecosystem. In particular, the new certification enables higher transaction limits, which enables faster time-to-market for a host of premium mobile services.

To meet the demands of PCI DSS, Netsize has developed a new infrastructure that includes a dedicated server, network and encryption engine to store, process and transmit the credit cards numbers.

According to Frédéric Deman, General Manager of Netsize, the company’s mobile payment platform now offers a gateway to the rapidly growing global market for digital services and content on handheld devices, which generated sales worth €1 billion during 2012.

“The addition of PCI DSS certification for secure and seamless credit card payments represents yet another leap forward in terms of the commercial opportunities available to merchants using Netsize solutions,” he said.

Netsize specialises in mobile operator micro-payment solutions and messaging services. It connects and contracts directly with mobile operators to help them monetise mobile services. These can be for selling digital goods or for vending and ticketing, as well as for value added services like mobile marketing to manage customer relationships and app store payments. The network reaches more than 2 billion consumers and has connections with more than 1,000 merchants and service providers.
