Calligo achieves ISO 9001:2008

Calligo, the offshore cloud service provider, has achieved full ISO 9001:2008 certification in IT and Business Cloud Services, a first for any cloud service provider in the Channel Islands. ISO 9001:2008 looks to ensure that an organisation has demonstrated its commitment to enhancing client satisfaction through the application of the quality management system, with processes in place for continual improvement and the assurance of conformity to client, statutory and regulatory requirements.

An audit and onsite review was carried out by QEC Certification, the industry leader in quality management certification and fully accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service). They performed a number of intensive audits in Calligo’s offices.

Given the effort involved in achieving ISO 9001:2008, often an organisation would only look to certify certain departments and functions. Calligo decided to not just deploy the standard in certain departments, but committed to include all areas of its organisation in the audit (Human Resources, Office Management, Service Delivery – to ITIL/ISO 20000 standards, Project Services – Prince2/Scrum standards plus Security & Compliance) to ensure that the full benefits of ISO would be seen throughout the entire company.

“The industry looks to ISO 9001:2008 as the benchmark model for quality assurance and I’m delighted we have achieved this certification across our entire business. It confirms to our clients our commitment to quality management and continued improvement of all our processes throughout the organisation,” commented Julian Box, Chief Executive Officer, Calligo. “Given the varied industries that Calligo operates within, it is critical to have a measure of quality in the activities performed on a day to day basis. Calligo has full commitment at all levels of the organisation to the ISO standards, and achieving certification is a testament to the effort that was required by all staff.”

Calligo is already fully engaged with the ISO 27001 Information Security Management deployment. Certification in this discipline is planned for the end of this year.

“We have taken the same approach to ISO 27001 ensuring that we fully apply the processes throughout the whole of our business, which again will be a unique approach to take within our industry. We will certainly be the first offshore cloud provider to have platform wide ISO 27001 in place, which will ensure that security and risk management are at the heart of the services Calligo provides,” commented Nick Arnold, Chief Security Officer, Calligo.
