SunView Software chosen to support 107,000 college students and faculty in Dallas

SunView Software has announced a licensing agreement with the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), which has deployed SunView ChangeGear 5.0 to streamline its IT Change Management processes. The DCCCD chose SunView's IT Service Management (ITSM) software in order to implement ITIL best practices with built-in change management workflows.

Consisting of seven independently accredited colleges in the Dallas area, DCCCD is among the largest undergraduate institutions in Texas. It employs 7,000+ faculty and staff serving more than 100,000 students. Underpinning the DCCCD system are multiple IT organizations that require the formal tracking of production system changes in an ITIL-based solution.

"At DCCCD, we are particularly challenged with multiple and disparate IT environments all acting autonomously and Change Management is a mission-critical process to help integrate our IT," said Emilio Ramos, District Director of Educational Technology. "One of the keys to choosing ChangeGear was that in just a few days ChangeGear was up and running. With this cost-efficient ITIL-based process solution, we can now track production and system changes while bringing Incident, Problem and Change Management together in an easily customizable, integrated solution."
ChangeGear is now used to track all changes to the production Blackboard LMS, open service requests to other departments, and log incidents & problems for easy transfer to the appropriate support department. Its use is continuously being expanded and is in use by several departments such as Facilities and Business Services.

SunView ChangeGear 5.0 is part of a new breed of ITSM software solutions that are quick to deploy, easy to use and cost less to maintain. Built from the ground up using modern application architecture, ChangeGear 5.0 enables enterprise and government customers to increase efficiencies by automating critical service management processes like incident, problem, change, service request, and asset management, as well as CMDB and service catalog. With ChangeGear, any IT Organizations can take advantage of out-of-the-box ITIL processes to achieve rapid results in key IT areas: IT Service support, IT controls for security and regulatory compliance, and automation of infrastructure management.

"The DCCCD implementation is a great example of how colleges and universities are actively using modern Service Desk solutions like ChangeGear for adopting ITIL-based best practices to optimize IT service delivery for students and faculty," said Seng Sun, CEO of SunView Software. "We are happy to support the DCCCD and all institutions of higher education interested in reducing costs and improving IT service delivery. By implementing our cost-effective Service Desk, institutions can have a solution that is both easy to implement and simple to administer."
