Secure I.T. Environments Ltd (SITE), a UK provider of modular and micro data centre solutions, has completed a design programme for a project in Qatar. The work involved developing data infrastructure for a financial institution using engineering methodologies aligned with current standards.

The project centres on a new server room within an existing building. The technical area covers approximately 110m² and includes a dedicated staging area designed to improve operational workflow and separate deliveries from active technical spaces for security and efficiency.

SITE was responsible for specifying key infrastructure components required for a resilient server environment.

Key elements include:
  • Eight IT racks and three additional communications racks, designed for a target density of 6 kW per rack.
  • Two 50 kW UPS units configured for parallel operation, with additional UPS capacity provided for the communications racks.
  • An N+1 cooling configuration based on DX cooling units, delivering around 80 kW of net sensible cooling.
  • An estimated total site load of 145 kVA across IT and cooling, within a 150 kVA capacity margin.
  • Integrated environmental monitoring and fire protection systems.
The design accounts for operation in a high ambient temperature environment, with measures such as humidity control and condensate drainage incorporated to support reliable performance.

The design aligns with ISO/IEC TS 22237 standards and follows a structured approach across power, cooling, security and environmental management systems.

SITE stated that its project teams apply established standards to manage risk and deliver resilient infrastructure aligned with both European and international requirements.

Projects Director Chris Wellfair said that applying appropriate design decisions at an early stage helps reduce risk and supports the delivery of resilient environments tailored to defined specifications. The project reflects SITE’s ongoing delivery of data centre design work internationally.
