Nokia and EBB partner to revolutionise AI data centers in Malaysia

Nokia partners with EBB to enhance AI data centers in Malaysia, aligning with national policy and industry standards.

Nokia has embarked on a significant collaboration with Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its subsidiary, Open DC, to upgrade their AI data centres in Malaysia. This initiative aims to enhance network performance and tighten security, fulfilling the demands of the banking and financial sectors while aligning with the country's National Cloud Computing Policy.

Under the agreement, Nokia's IP network solution will facilitate the interconnection of six AI data centres across key locations such as CJ1 Cyberjaya, JB1 Menara MSC Cyberport, and others. This network enhancement ensures a more resilient infrastructure, aligning with EBB's Innovating Connectivity vision and Open DC's mission to position connectivity hubs strategically.

Furthering this collaboration, Nokia and EBB have agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore data centre solutions and quantum-safe networks. They aim to strategise a market approach offering services like quantum-safe networking, multi-cloud connectivity, and DDoS security.

The companies will jointly test and validate various technologies including Data Center Gateway, Data Center Fabric with Event-Driven Automation, and robust DDoS protection.

Nokia’s solutions are set to enhance scalability and security, supporting AI-driven innovation and creating opportunities under Malaysia's MYDIGITAL policy. Open DC Managing Director, Wong Weng Yew, highlighted the commitment to provide enhanced connectivity and drive Malaysia's economic growth.

Kent Wong, Nokia’s Vice President and Head of IP Networks for the Asia Pacific, emphasised the trusted partnership in building digital infrastructure. The collaboration will empower compatibility for evolving demands, presenting a vital business edge to Open DC customers.

The project involves the use of Nokia's Data Center Fabric and quantum-safe networks to future-proof data centres, supporting a secure, scalable solution aligned with enterprise needs. Field-proven routers further add an energy-efficient aspect to this modernised network approach.
