Netplus leverages Nokia's 400G routing to enhance broadband services in Punjab

Netplus deploys Nokia's latest technology to scale high-speed broadband in India, focusing on energy efficiency and on-demand services.

Nokia has announced its collaboration with Netplus, a rapidly expanding Internet Services Provider (ISP) in India, to implement its advanced 400G routing technology and software-defined access network (SDAN) platform. This deployment aims to enhance Netplus' broadband and IPTV services across Punjab and beyond.

The rollout positions Netplus favourably to transition its subscribers from traditional linear TV to cutting-edge, on-demand IPTV services. The move also paves the way for high-bandwidth applications such as e-commerce and digital classrooms. By utilising energy-efficient components across every network layer, the deployment lowers operating costs whilst ensuring sustainable growth.

With a swift increase in demand for on-demand video, online gaming, and educational services, ISPs in India are under immense pressure to upgrade their networks to maintain both performance and sustainability. In response, Netplus has chosen Nokia’s 7250 Interconnect Routers (IXR) for broadband aggregation alongside the 7750 Service Router (SR) for network gateway functionality. This is bolstered by Nokia’s next-generation SDAN-based platform for PON (GPON, XGSPON), incorporating the Altiplano Access Controller with the Lightspan Optical Line Terminal (OLT).

Together, these technologies create a fully converged and future-proof architecture, ensuring improved service assurance. The deployment embraces Altiplano’s SDAN capabilities to optimise service performance, facilitating automated control, diagnostics, and orchestration across access networks, which accelerates service rollout.

The new network allows consumers access to high-speed IPTV and interactive applications across multiple devices and locations. This ensures an enhanced customer experience, focusing on energy efficiency and flexibility to meet evolving needs in business and education.

"Consumers today want access to high-speed IPTV and interactive applications across multiple devices and locations. This deployment ensures we deliver an improved customer experience, better energy efficiency and flexibility to support evolving needs in business and education. Our collaboration with Nokia reinforces our commitment to building next-gen digital highways for northern India," said Arshdeep Singh Mundi, Executive Director at Netplus.

By working with Netplus, Nokia aims to set a benchmark for the nation's emerging broadband experience. "By working with Netplus, we are helping build the foundation for India’s next-generation broadband experience. Our solutions deliver the performance, scalability and automation needed to support data-intensive applications like IPTV. With this deployment, Netplus gains the tools to ensure network reliability, reduce energy costs and evolve toward a future-ready architecture," said Jivitesh Nayal, Head of Emerging Business for Network Infrastructure at Nokia India.
