DE-CIX expands global reach with São Paulo internet exchange

DE-CIX begins operations in São Paulo, enhancing Brazil's digital connectivity with cutting-edge interconnection services.

DE-CIX, a globally leading operator of Internet Exchanges (IXs), has commenced its peering and interconnection services in São Paulo. The launch of DE-CIX São Paulo integrates three data centres: Equinix SP4, Elea SPO1, and Ascenty SP4, offering advanced digital connectivity solutions to businesses across South America.

Companies are set to benefit from local and remote peering, cloud exchange, and multi-cloud routing functionalities, ensuring robust cloud-to-cloud communication. This enhances their digital operations with low latency and high-performance connectivity. Businesses can establish direct connections with a plethora of network operators, from ISPs to cloud providers, spanning over 100 countries globally.

"With our high-performance, secure, and scalable interconnection services, we enhance local interconnection, creating a more resilient and globally integrated ecosystem," says Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX. He highlights the impact of these services on Brazil's burgeoning digital economy.

This strategic move incorporates São Paulo into DE-CIX's extensive global network, linked to premier IXs in cities like New York, Madrid, and Frankfurt via transatlantic connections. This connectivity paves the way for Brazilian networks to integrate into the world's largest interconnection ecosystem.

Rafael Umann, CEO of Azion, comments on the collaboration: "Our platform ensures resilience, security, and performance for critical and AI workloads. Through interconnection with DE-CIX, we guarantee our customers access to the best infrastructure on the market..."

The expansion of DE-CIX São Paulo is pivotal for national competitiveness, presenting new opportunities for network operators in Brazil and addressing gaps in enterprise-level interconnection services. Backed by robust SLA agreements, DE-CIX offers unmatched service standards.

DE-CIX’s decision to establish IXs in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro underscores its commitment to Brazil's digital transformation. With 165 million Internet users and a plethora of networks, the country represents a key market for strategic growth, transforming South America into DE-CIX's fifth continent of operation.

Globally, DE-CIX’s interconnection services span around 60 locations across continents, from Europe to Asia, interconnecting over a thousand networks in more than 100 countries. Celebrating 30 years since its inception in 1995, the company remains a cornerstone of Internet connectivity worldwide, continuously advancing through strategic expansions and partnerships.

DE-CIX's success is anchored by a diverse team of 250 employees, representing over 35 nations, and its significant involvement in shaping the Internet's present and future through participation in global bodies like the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
