SUPERNAP Italia delivers hyperscale data centre on Milan Campus

Overcoming global construction and supply chain constraints, SUPERNAP Italia shows what’s possible in Milan.

SUPERNAP Italia has opened its second data center on its Milan (Siziano) campus. The new facility, comprised of two independent data halls, brings the Company’s active campus to 100,000 square meters and 40 MW of power.

SUPERNAP data centers enable maximum efficiency, flexibility, reliability, and security, guaranteeing zero downtime, with 24x7 access control and monitoring. The Company is also highly committed to environmental sustainability, providing 100% certified green energy to all customers and boasting a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) well below the industry average.

“Six years ago, we set out to develop and operate Europe’s most advanced data center. With the completion of our second facility, we’ve brought our initial investment and campus vision full circle,” said Sherif Rizkalla, CEO of SUPERNAP Italia. “Today, we directly employ more than 50 highly talented individuals and serve some of the world’s most important hyperscale cloud providers right here in Siziano. We are proud of the incredible progress we’ve made and are committed to further investment in the region to provide our customers with runway for future growth.”

SUPERNAP chose Siziano in 2015 for the development of its Italian data center campus because of the area’s unique advantages, including easy access to major highways and railways, low seismic risk, and the ability to implement dedicated connectivity infrastructure and develop electrical substations, as well as its proximity to Milan.

As communicated earlier this year, SUPERNAP Italia’s acquisition by IPI Partners is enabling its long-term strategy of furthering its presence in Milan and in Europe. The Company reached another milestone with the procurement of two land parcels adjacent to its existing campus, which will support three data centers totaling 35 MW of incremental capacity, bringing the Company’s total Milan capacity to 75 MW. The first of the new data centers is expected to be operational by mid-2022.
