Colt extends collaboration with Equinix

By combining Colt’s network footprint and on-demand capability with the Equinix Fabric offering, enterprises benefit from a simplified end-to-end experience when connecting to their digital infrastructure.

Colt Technology Services has extended collaboration with Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), which sees Colt enabling agile, on-demand connectivity to Equinix Fabric.

Equinix Fabric directly, securely and dynamically connects distributed infrastructure and digital ecosystems on Platform Equinix®. Through this extended collaboration, enterprises will have the ability to connect in near real-time to their own premises – through the Colt IQ Network footprint of 29,000 on net buildings – from the trusted Equinix platform. This last mile footprint also includes connectivity to data centres outside of the Equinix ecosystem. This on-demand interconnection between Colt and Equinix Fabric is fully automated via an API, which further simplifies the end-to-end experience.

With Colt facilitating on-demand connectivity to Equinix Fabric, enterprises now have complete control over their digital infrastructure, creating a superior customer experience and providing them with greater agility over a critical asset in today’s business landscape – their network. The collaboration between Colt and Equinix was first announced in 2017, and now the organisations are evolving their offerings to ensure they are best placed to assist enterprises with their on-going and rapid digital transformations.

Peter Coppens, Vice President Product Portfolio, at Colt, said: “Colt’s On Demand offering is one we are very proud of. Networks have long shifted from being a stagnant business cost – to being a true enabler of organisations’ transformations, as they evolve. We know transformations this year have had to happen in some cases overnight, and this extended collaboration with Equinix will only further accelerate business growth and agility – something we both are fundamentally aligned on.”

Colt’s On Demand proposition allows customers to self-provision secure, high bandwidth connectivity in a matter of minutes, allowing them to dynamically scale bandwidth up or down in near real-time. Colt On Demand is controlled by an online customer portal and sees connectivity purchased through a flexible, pay as you use commercial model.

Michael Winterson, Vice President Business Development – EMEA, Managing Director Equinix Services, said: “This year has shown us, more than any other, the importance of agile infrastructure in facilitating a truly connected ecosystem. We are thrilled to work with providers like Colt, who share our vision to create transformative networking solutions that can power the fast-paced business landscape of today.”
