Hybrid cloud monitoring increases performance and reduces costs

NETSCOUT SYSTEMS has been selected by PropertyRoom.com to manage its hybrid cloud by transforming packet data into smart data to deliver actionable intelligence at scale.

PropertyRoom.com selected NETSCOUT Virtual nGeniusONE™ and vSTREAM™ solutions, coupled with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) Traffic Mirroring, to gain visibility into applications and their dependencies in hybrid cloud environments. Through this solution, PropertyRoom.com was able to control performance and security blind spots within and between its data centres and Amazon Web Services (AWS) improving Mean Time to Knowledge (MTTK) by up to 80%.

“Our IT team is continually looking at best-of-breed solutions that help us enable our online auction marketplace for seized, stolen, abandoned, and surplus goods provided by law enforcement agencies and municipalities across the country,” stated Andrew J. Nash, CEO, PropertyRoom.com. “After migrating to AWS, we needed a solution that could work with AWS to further increase performance and security monitoring. NETSCOUT helped us quickly identify the root cause of server and application issues while reducing our overall costs.”

IT teams are continually challenged to accelerate digital transformation and successfully transform data centres -- both on-premises and colocations -- to migrate workloads to the cloud. Amazon VPC Traffic Mirroring augments NETSCOUT’s solutions for AWS by offering an efficient way to acquire packet data and deliver additional visibility into applications and security on AWS environments before, during, and after workload migration to AWS.

PropertyRoom.com monitors both east/west traffic running in the data centre and on AWS as well as north/south traffic between on-premises and the cloud. The company's IT team can now intelligently pinpoint the network, session, enabler, database, application, or other service performance issues so that they can be corrected. NETSCOUT technologies and Amazon VPC Traffic Mirroring help PropertyRoom.com improve service availability and improve network functionality while also driving collaboration between NetOps, SecOps, and other IT team members.

“NETSCOUT customers use nGeniusONE and vSTREAM to identify and troubleshoot issues affecting their users,” stated Michael Szabados, chief operating officer, NETSCOUT. “Our relationship with AWS allows us to seamlessly extend our packet data capabilities to quickly help detect, analyse, and remediate potential application and service performance challenges across hybrid cloud environments. We’re pleased that PropertyRoom.com has discovered the advantages of these solutions to help ensure their infrastructure is working at peak performance.”
