Major Irish data centre developer opens onboarding office for US clients

New mega development offers fastest connectivity between North America and Europe.

International data center developer, Atlantic Hub, has officially opened its first US office in Boston Massachusetts. The office will support clients from North America seeking to acquire fully serviced, powered development sites in Ireland. The office will ensure a seamless onboarding process for clients entering the Irish market.

Atlantic Hub recognises the need for flexible, well-developed, high capacity data storage needs of hyper scale clients based in the United States that have additional needs in other jurisdictions. Ireland is currently attracting some of the world’s largest global tech companies who are basing their data centers in Europe.

Ireland’s North West is a particularly attractive location due to the cool climate, which reduces running costs for heat-generating computers, its fast connectivity to the US via transatlantic data cables, and a central time zone allowing for easier business transactions across the globe.

Ireland’s North West region is an increasingly attractive place to live and to do business;

  • Young skilled population – 35% of the population are under 25 years of age with access to leading academic institutions including Ulster University (Magee);
  • Highly accessible – 2 international airports, with daily flights to USA and Asia as well as over $260m in recent investment in regional transport infrastructure;
  • High quality of life – desirable, affordable accommodation with an average house price of $128k, set against the backdrop of some of Ireland’s most dramatic scenery and coastline;

Atlantic Hub’s flagship IT services and data center in the North West of Ireland encompasses two mega-hub campus sites at Foyle Port Innovation Park (Derry/Londonderry), and Letterkenny (Co. Donegal).

Each campus will offer world-class data center services, including up to Tier 4 standard, accommodating hyper-scale operator demands for low development and operational costs, and with direct connection to North America.

The campus also offers 160,000sq ft of high-tech office accommodation meaning Atlantic Hub is fully equipped to offer additional office facilities for any business needs which will arise as a result of the investment in the data center. The campus will accommodate any and all needs associated with the development of a digital eco system which goes along with a project such as this.

Brian Doherty, Managing Director of Atlantic Hub commented: “This is a major milestone for Atlantic Hub, as we continue to build project momentum for what will be the largest data center campus in the UK and Ireland.  The North American market is strategically important to our development plans with so many large and hyperscale operators in the region with end of lifecycle and upscaling needs. Our offering is being very well received and we look forward to progressing the project over the coming months.”
