Dashboard helps manage IT resources

Apptio has unveiled its key IT metrics dashboard which allows enterprise CIOs to measure and manage their IT organization at a glance. Apptio’s CIO Dashboard is available through both its foundational Cost Transparency application and a newly-launched tablet application. The CIO Dashboard, introduced as a part of a series of enhancements to Apptio’s TBM suite, empowers IT leaders to track the metrics, key performance indicators and cost decision analytics they need to keep pace with the speed of their organization while confidently reporting successes to their business partners.

“Having a standard set of third-party metrics we can use to run IT like a business is vital to the health and credibility of our organization. Apptio’s CIO Dashboard will allow us to easily communicate the status of key investments and initiatives to our internal business leaders,” said Larry Godec, Chief Information Officer at First American Financial Corporation. “As a board member of the nonprofit TBM Council, I am proud to be a part of the organization that developed these valuable metrics.”

Ratified by the nonprofit TBM Council and vetted by leading enterprise CIOs and industry analysts, Apptio selected the IT metrics contained within the CIO Dashboard to be the industry’s most sophisticated and reliable measure of IT financial performance. Apptio’s CIO Dashboard provides customers an executive level summary of key cost metrics by business units, applications, infrastructure, financial variance and public cloud. When combined with Apptio’s powerful cost analytics and expansive benchmark repository, IT leaders are armed with the data and insights they need to make actionable decisions on IT investments.

“Providing CIOs with situational awareness of their key IT metrics across their entire portfolio frees up time that can be devoted to innovative ‘change the business’ activities,” said Ted Kummert, EVP of Engineering at Apptio. “Based on our more than 250 TBM deployments, we know what CIOs need to quickly navigate, report, and manage their top KPIs across all IT domains.”

With its latest release, Apptio also made several enhancements to its Cost Transparency and IT Benchmarking applications. These include features designed to allow enterprise IT organizations to make faster, smarter decisions about their investments, particularly those related to cloud storage. This release comes equipped with enhanced cloud analytics and decision support for comparisons of on-premise and cloud infrastructure. IT leaders now have the actionable information they need to make choices about cloud migration while maximizing infrastructure spend.

Lastly, Apptio’s Benchmarking application has been enriched with real-time aggregated data from its own customer base. The world’s leading organizations have contracted with Apptio to calculate and analyze over $150 billion in annual IT spend. As a result, Apptio is now leveraging this data to inform its own Benchmarking capabilities allowing IT leaders to better manage their IT investments against their peers.
