FireMon acquires mmediate Insight to expand security solutions portfolio

Acquisition delivers first-ever combination of proactive network security intelligence and real-time security event analysis.

FireMon has acquired Immediate Insight, whose software brings search engine-like speed and simplicity to analysis of operational security event data.

The addition of Los Altos, California-based Immediate Insight to FireMon’s existing product portfolio creates the industry’s first dedicated solutions offering combining detailed network security intelligence with real-time security event analysis. This expanded capability will enable large enterprises, government agencies, and managed security service providers to better identify gaps in their network security infrastructure, as well as triage any active compromise by automatically re-provisioning policies to prevent resulting attacks. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Immediate Insight has developed exciting new technology that expands our capabilities in a very strategic manner, allowing FireMon to deliver on a highly actionable, multitiered security intelligence model,” said Jody Brazil, CEO of FireMon. “This technology has already proven its value in enterprise environments as a direct complement to our strategic technology partners. We’re extremely excited about the combination of these solutions and what this represents not only for FireMon, but also our customers and the industry at large.”

With a decade of experience in delivering solutions to customers, FireMon’s proactive security intelligence platform enables practitioners to reduce the risk of attacks by gaining tighter visibility into and control over network security infrastructure. However, driven by the inherent complexity and changing nature of today’s threats and layered defenses, organisations also require capabilities to rapidly identify and respond to network compromises that inevitably occur, to minimise the impact on critical assets.

Today’s enterprise network operations and security management teams are frequently overwhelmed by the sheer volume of event-related information, obscuring critical issues that require immediate attention. Leveraging Immediate Insight, organisations address this challenge via the generation of in-depth, actionable security event analytics to improve defenses, streamline operations, and mitigate risk.

Through highly differentiated and innovative technology, Immediate Insight integrates search, analytics, and workflow for both structured and unstructured data. The results enable teams to rapidly and easily uncover otherwise unseen issues that elude existing tools and systems.

“Immediate Insight was founded to help organisations make better use of their data to rapidly discover issues creating real-world security and performance risk. Our technology reveals data relationships and anomalies that users cannot identify on their own, improving productivity of shorthanded IT security and operations teams,” said Jeff Barker, founder and CEO of Immediate Insight. “We’re excited to be part of the team and bring together FireMon’s industry-leading security intelligence with Immediate Insight’s innovative data analysis to offer organisations unique insight into current and future security risks.”

FireMon plans to rapidly integrate the Immediate Insight team and technology into its existing business structure and solutions portfolio, which currently includes Security Manager, Policy Planner, Policy Optimiser, and Risk Analyser.
