Improving the building blocks of Axiell’s Digital Services

Axiell launches upgraded cloud infrastructure to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its customer proposition. In particular, improving its public and staff facing systems.

The Axiell solution is now hosted in a UK based, enterprise quality datacentre with ISO 27001 accreditation. The virtual environment that now hosts all of the public and staff facing components of the system offers Axiell’s customers a service that can boast greater stability, security and reliability. The move itself not only meant that the infrastructure was improved, but it gave Axiell the opportunity to restructure all of its network components, which multiplied the positive effects of the change.

Critically, the move to this type of cloud based environment means that Axiell now has the ability to be much more flexible and responsive to the demands of its customers, and can scale up or down quickly to meet new demands without impacting upon its customers’ operations. Axiell’s customers can take additional comfort from knowing that the UK datacentre that hosts this virtual environment provides SLA guarantees of 99.99% availability based on environmental considerations, and a triple redundancy in Internet connectivity.

The back-end LMS databases have also been moved to the new datacentre, and these are hosted separately but still maintain multiple tiers of redundancy within the hardware and benefit from the improved physical security. The security of this cloud based structuring is further enhanced as the data resides in a private rather than public cloud environment, ensuring Axiell’s library customer data remains separate from non-library data.

John Corfield, Operations Manager at Axiell UK comments, “We are extremely pleased to be able to announce the move to the new data centre, it was an extremely complex and challenging project, but one that is going to deliver real benefit to our customers. Moreover, it gives Axiell the resilience and stability to keep delivering a continuous schedule of upgrades and innovations.”
