Managed services provider Calyx has been awarded a contract to refresh the IT infrastructure of renowned luxury motor yacht builder, Fairline Boats, as the company invests in its plans for the future. In addition to the refresh and virtualisation of the core network infrastructure, the project will also include deployment of a new 1Gb WAN and Office365.

Fairline Boats has had to endure a challenging market over the past 24 months and has ambitious plans for 2015 with its new business model and new product introduction. Colin Sykes, Fairline Boats, explained “We are making good progress in what is still a difficult market and we are determined that we should have everything in place as we build momentum. We felt our infrastructure was overly-complex and didn’t have the capacity to sustain us going forward. This project will not only ensure we have the capacity we need, it will provide us with a fully resilient and robust infrastructure with scalability for the future.”

Calyx will also be providing ongoing management and support services, including full infrastructure monitoring. Sykes continued: “Calyx really stood out as the company which understood the needs of our business and was able to translate that into a strategic IT roadmap. Their ability to plan, deploy and manage the infrastructure for us removes the pressure of day to day concerns such as downtime and gives us the freedom to focus on strategic projects that support our overall goals.”

Steve Clark, Calyx CEO agreed: “Fairline Boats is typical of many similar sized companies that are now taking advantage of the many benefits that a managed service can bring, especially in terms of broadening the IT expertise available to a company and alleviating pressures on an internal team. We are delighted to be working with Fairline Boats and look forward to a long partnership.”
