Argentum Application Intelligence Suite to accelerate enterprise adoption of Cloud Services.

Fedr8 has launched Argentum, its application analysis SaaS, which provides compatibility analysis and optimisation for bespoke applications, prior to cloud delivery. The development of Argentum provides organisations with a suite of tools that can assess, analyse and optimise legacy applications, enabling organisations to design successful cloud projects and migrate applications in a fraction of the time it would normally take.

The availability of Argentum follows a six-month beta testing period, during which time the product was used to analyse Open Source applications developed by leading software companies including Netflix, Twitter and IBM. Argentum has been designed to analyse the source code of any application, in any programming language. Through this analysis, Argentum can then provide actionable intelligence to help organisations integrate, secure and optimise complex legacy applications into their chosen cloud platform and simplify federation of services from one provider to another.

Dean Chapman, CEO and founder of Fedr8, comments: “Industry estimates suggest that around 86 per cent of applications are still not in the cloud. By significantly reducing the cost of application source code analysis and identifying areas of source code that need to be re-factored in order to optimise the application for the cloud, we don’t just reduce the upfront cost, but we are able to accurately identify the cost of change and reduce the time it takes to make that change, thus increasing the time to value for our customers.” Chapman added: “The innovative and disruptive nature of Argentum means that there are a wide set of use cases which will deliver significant value for our clients.”

In addition to cost savings, by using Argentum, organisations benefit from significantly reduced risk as they gain a deeper understanding of their application estate and can reduce the risk of moving any complex applications. Customers also enjoy enhanced business agility as they open up new revenues by allowing additional applications to be migrated to the cloud and leveraging native cloud features to provide faster application development for legacy applications

The Argentum solution provides cloud compatibility analysis and application modernisation, which optimises applications in regard to cloud integration, application security and optimisation. Code is uploaded to the Argentum platform where it undergoes a complex lexical analysis and is split into objectified tokens. These tokens populate a complex meta database and highly sophisticated queries are run against the meta database. The result is a comprehensive visualisation of the application and actionable business intelligence to enable successful cloud adoption.
