Asigra Inc. has announced cloud-to-cloud backup support for Microsoft Office 365, providing secure backup of the data to authorized cloud service providers or an organization’s own private cloud. With Asigra Cloud Backup™ for Microsoft Office 365, recovery of lost data is fast and simple and based on an organization’s Recovery Time Objective (RTO). With support for Microsoft Office 365, Asigra delivers a single, integrated approach to cloud-based data recovery that provides the flexibility to pick and choose the right data protection level, at a cost that is aligned to the value of the data being protected. This approach eliminates the need for a complicated mix of point solutions or separate processes to backup data in the cloud. Administrators can easily configure, manage and schedule all backup activities from the same intuitive user interface and will no longer have to manually maintain various versions of flat backup files. Asigra Cloud Backup provides the same backup and recovery protection for Microsoft Office 365 as it does for on-premise data centers for comprehensive data protection.

According to Microsoft, the Office 365 community reached 7.1 million users in November, 2014, increasing 1.5 million subscribers in the September, 2014 quarter alone. Microsoft reported 147% growth in commercial cloud services in Q4 FY14, which includes commercial Office 365. The growth forecast for Office 365 will be further enhanced by Microsoft’s new subscription based model which allows users to work on multiple devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. With Asigra, Office 365 users benefit from the company’s device agnostic platform which provides extensive end-to-end protection of data across all computing environments -- physical, virtual, cloud and mobile.

Using Asigra Cloud Backup, organization scan protect Microsoft Office 365 data at all times, automatically. The latest integration allows companies to backup and restore data beyond documents and spreadsheets to include Exchange, SharePoint workspaces and OneDrive repositories. Administrators can automate and schedule the backup activities for the data in Microsoft Office 365, select the number of generations of the information that need protection, set retention rules and even decide different backup frequencies for different sets of data. With Asigra, all Microsoft Office 365 backup data is stored in the same single repository as all other corporate data, providing confidence in the ability to recover lost data on demand.

Advanced capabilities for protecting Microsoft Office 365 include:
• Administrator control center for the easy administration, deployment and overall management of cloud-to-cloud backup for Office 365
• Protection of Office 365 data within the user’s overall end-to-end backup infrastructure
• Ability to quickly restore data back into Office 365
• Granular backup of data – at the domain level, account level, specific files or emails
• Secure NIST FIPS 140-2 certified storage of backup data in flight and at rest

“When data resides in an external SaaS cloud such as Microsoft Office 365, it is still the responsibility of the organization to ensure the recovery of that information if lost,” said Eran Farajun, Executive Vice President, Asigra. “If an organization cancels their Office 365 subscription, Microsoft will delete their data after 90 days. However, for regulatory or compliance reasons organizations may need to retain their data for a much longer period of time. Asigra Cloud Backup reclaims control of data in cloud-based repositories, allowing users to integrate the protection of that data into their corporate backup infrastructure. This integration is a significant step forward in the backup market as Office 365 adoption is expected to rank among the top cloud applications in use by businesses globally.”
