The Green Grid announces new offices for its expanded board of directors

Roger Tipley elected as new president and board chair.

The Green Grid® Association, the global authority on effective and accountable resource efficiency across the entire information and communications technology (ICT) ecosystem, today announced new officers for its recently expanded board of directors, a leadership transition consistent with the organisation’s commitment to driving and expanding global and regional involvement across all program activities.

Roger Tipley, vice president of industry and government alliances for Schneider Electric, will assume the role of president and chairman of the board. Tipley joined The Green Grid’s board of directors at the organisation’s inception, and began serving in officer roles in 2007. He replaces long-serving president and chairman John Tuccillo, who will continue contributing to the organisation as an industry expert and mentor supporting several of The Green Grid’s initiatives.

Rona Newmark of EMC will assume duties as vice president, while IBM’s Pam Lembke will take on the role of secretary for The Green Grid. Both have served previously on the board of directors, with Newmark most recently handling officer duties as treasurer.

“Succeeding John is an honor and a challenge, given the enthusiastic and selfless service he devoted to The Green Grid, and the long list of organisational accomplishments we achieved during his time as president. We all want to thank him for his dedication and congratulate him on his recent promotion,” said Tipley. “Going forward, we will continue expanding our global leadership and our work delivering real impact across industry sectors. This includes developing best practices for elevated-temperature data centre operations, exploring liquid cooling in ICT devices and providing expert guidance on sustainability requirements for all ICT and data centre equipment.”

Tipley will expand upon The Green Grid’s recent commitment to accelerate program agility and increase global impact through a streamlined project development process. This commitment includes welcoming a new project development director who will expedite the process of turning dynamic ideas into fully-vetted deliverables. The organisation’s new structure is designed to realise the group’s mission to drive effective and accountable resource efficiency across the entire ICT ecosystem.

“Going forward, our organisational vision is to establish a set of values around responsible and effective resource efficiency such that companies and governments will continue looking to The Green Grid as the authority for best practices, metrics, subject matter expertise and technical insight for all things related to ICT efficiency,” said Tipley.

“Throughout its history, The Green Grid has benefitted from strong individual leadership, and John Tuccillo leaves a legacy of organisational achievement marked by collaborative success and global technical expertise,” said Newmark. “The real face of the organisation, however, has never been a single person or group of people – The Green Grid has always been a collective effort in which members view ourselves as part of something broader than any of us could accomplish individually. The new officers very much embrace that collective leadership identity.”

“The Green Grid’s new leadership team is both proud of our past accomplishments and excited by the prospect of future collaboration on the many creative program ideas facilitated by our new organisational layout and the new Project Development Director position,” said Lembke. “These changes will enable us to act on our organisational commitments by quickly turning concept ideas into project reality throughout our global organisation.”
