Sophos announces expanded security offerings through AWS Marketplace

Sophos has announced the expansion of their product portfolio on AWS Marketplace with the addition of a new secure server option for customers on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Building on the success of the Sophos UTM Next Generation Firewall product, which is offered through AWS Marketplace, the new Sophos Secure OS delivers comprehensive security bundled with CentOS.

Secure AWS Servers
AWS provides a comprehensive, scalable cloud platform on which customers can build and host applications through the use of a simple web-based interface as well as an API. The new Sophos Secure OS will combine CentOS with comprehensive, preinstalled anti-malware protection in a single Amazon Machine Instance (AMI). The secure server option provides a time-saving and cost-effective alternative to IT professionals building their own infrastructure to manage security in a cloud-based server environment.

“Sophos has been a leader in developing enterprise security solutions on AWS and we are excited to see them continue to expand the number of products available on AWS Marketplace,” said Terry Hanold, Vice President, AWS Platform and Marketplace, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “In the cloud, security is a shared responsibility and the availability of Sophos Secure OS on AWS Marketplace provides customers with another great option to help them add additional layers of security to their enterprise applications on AWS.”

Expanded Test Drive Options
In addition to Sophos Secure OS, Sophos is also adding a new AWS Test Drive for their endpoint security solution featuring Sophos Enterprise Console. AWS Test Drives allow customers to evaluate products using a private IT sandbox environment containing preconfigured server-based solutions. The new offering complements an existing AWS Test Drive available for the Sophos UTM.

“It’s clear to us that Sophos has a strong focus on working with AWS,” said Matt Hymowitz, technology manager at GMP Networks. “We have not encountered any other UTM product that is as well-integrated with AWS.”

“Sophos is committed to providing the best cloud-based security to enable the future of business,” said Mike Valentine, senior vice president, worldwide sales, Sophos. “In addition to our leading UTM running in the cloud, we're pleased to offer Sophos Secure OS as another powerful layer of defense to provide the very best protection for AWS customers.”
