Fujitsu and Shelter celebrate two year partnership

Innovative charity collaboration sees Fujitsu offer practical support to help the charity achieve its goals.

Fujitsu says that its partnership with Shelter has concluded after two years of the charity’s work to deliver on its ambitions to help more people than ever before find suitable housing. This partnership has been a great success, with Fujitsu’s development of Shelter’s shop network. Fujitsu also raised a total of £350,000 through fundraising – almost doubling its original target of £200,000, adding value to Shelter’s work supporting families in need of housing. Fujitsu’s contribution will enable 37,000 more families to find and keep a home.

Fujitsu has helped Shelter to expand its shop network by funding nine new stores. Fujitsu has helped modernise the network by supplying and implementing digital tills, increasing efficiency and modernising the payment process, and also introducing new Gift Aid capabilities, allowing Shelter to raise even more money. Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation, and long-term Fujitsu partner, provided its wireless and security solutions to provide secure connectivity across Shelter’s stores in the UK which can grow with Shelter to enable future services and in a store environment.

Furthermore, Fujitsu also provided ad hoc consultancy for a variety of issues including an in-depth review of Shelter’s existing retail performance and efficiencies and provision of 15 Fujitsu laptops to high street fundraisers so they could showcase their work more efficiently.

Fujitsu supported with fundraising efforts and entered the largest ever corporate team for Shelter’s flagship Vertical Rush event for the past two years, with 250 employees and 50 partners running up Tower42, raising over £140,000 in sponsorship. During the relationship, Fujitsu’s Graduate and Industrial Placement programmes have included a Shelter fundraising project as part of their Learning and Development, ensuring that all young talent is engaged with the partnership and Shelter’s cause.

“Shelter and Fujitsu have built up a strong partnership at every layer of both organisations, and their support has been invaluable in helping Shelter support the millions of families struggling with bad housing and homelessness.” said Campbell Robb, chief executive of Shelter. “We’re confident that the knowledge and understanding we have both gained will go on beyond the life of these past two years, and continue to help Shelter on its journey towards making sure everyone has a decent, affordable place to call home.”

“Responsibility is at the heart of Fujitsu’s business” said Michael Keegan, Chief Executive Officer, UK & Ireland, Fujitsu “Working with Shelter has been an incredible experience. We’re pleased to have provided Shelter with a legacy to raise more money in the years to come, and this relationship has provided great foundations in future charity work for our business.”

“We are honoured to be the technology enabler for this project and assist Shelter to reach its full capacity through innovative and secure infrastructure, making fund-raising more effective in support of the cause,” said Gerard Allison, senior vice president, EMEA, Juniper Networks.
