Businesses look to Dell as one-stop-shop for their IT needs

Customers able to support business processes more efficiently with flexible IT model.

Dell has announced its growing success in providing customers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region with high-performance, end-to-end data centre infrastructures. Traditionally known as a PC manufacturer, Dell has proved to customers that it also offers a full enterprise product portfolio to create a fully virtualized environment.

Dell is bringing expertise and innovation to customers by offering a flexible, service-centered IT model, smartly matching technology to support business processes from networking to tablets to consulting. Customers in healthcare, retail, financial, education and other verticals have used Dell’s end-to-end IT models in innovative ways to help them enhance their IT environment and speed up response time to end-user requests.

For example, the British visual effects company, Framestore, has deployed end-to-end Dell solutions to support big-budget projects at its new Montreal site. Framestore was able to construct an IT infrastructure, from scratch, in less than 12 months, allowing it to undertake significant upcoming projects. Steve Macpherson, CTO of Framestore, was pleased with the results: “Just over 12 months ago, we began planning our expansion into Montreal and quickly realised the challenge of building the site infrastructure after it had opened for business. Our entire machine room was commissioned with Dell’s participation – racks, cooling, storage and rendering – all this combined to make the planning process straightforward while the execution and delivery were both efficient and cost-effective.”

In Russia, Dell was selected to exclusively build the IT infrastructure for one of the country’s largest online stores, Wildberries. The project has provided the company with a reliable and scalable platform for anticipated growth and has also increased system availability through reduced downtime and lower maintenance costs. Sergey Esman, CTO of Wildberries, explained the benefits of the end-to-end system: “Previously we relied on equipment from a range of vendors, which was assembled and configured in-house and hosted by third parties. This led to system failures and we had to allocate additional resources for maintenance. That is why we looked for a vendor that could offer us an all-in-one solution coupled with reliable technical support.”

In Germany, hotel.de has updated its IT infrastructure with Dell solutions to virtualize 100 percent of its data centre. The deployment allowed the customer to significantly reduce energy costs, respond quickly to changes and better support ongoing growth. “With the introduction of Dell solutions, we were able to achieve the greatest possible degree of automation in IT administration, simplifying our operations immensely whilst reducing energy costs,” said Michael Kalb, Director, IT Operations at hotel.de.

“We’re seeing an increasing trend with companies looking to source from one vendor when they update their IT architectures. Vendor lock-in is a huge issue, particularly for customers looking to see the best return from their IT budget, and we want to offer a flexible solution for their needs. By being an end-to-end supplier, we can give our customers what they need, when they need it, at the lowest price and the highest levels of efficiency possible,” said Tony Parkinson, vice president, Enterprise, Dell EMEA.
