Capita joins Microsoft’s global Cloud OS Network

Capita IT Services has been named as a UK based company joining Microsoft Corp.’s global Cloud OS Network, which offers cloud solutions based on a Microsoft-validated platform that allows customers to select public, private, and hybrid cloud solutions to suit their local requirements and business needs.

As part of this collaboration, Capita has launched a new private cloud product called ‘Capita Productivity Hub’, which will be available via the existing Capita Private Cloud infrastructure.

Capita Productivity Hub offers UK customers familiar Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Lync, Sharepoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It allows organisations to increase productivity by offering trusted applications on the go and on their choice of device. In addition, the Capita Productivity Hub assures that customers will always have access to the latest versions of these applications.

Customers benefit from the knowledge that the applications are being used in a secure environment, plus the reassurance of all data being stored in Capita’s UK data centres.

Andy Parker, deputy chief executive at Capita, said: “We are pleased to be working with Microsoft as one of the UK companies to offer their popular applications via private cloud. The security guaranteed by Capita Productivity Hub is crucial for many organisations in the public sector and highly regulated industries. For example, we offer a specific suite of applications to address key issues faced by the health sector.”

Maurice Martin, Server and Cloud lead, Microsoft, said: “With the Cloud OS Network, we’re offering customers the ability to take advantage of hybrid solutions that let them work with a local service provider such as Capita. As part of the Cloud OS Network, Capita Productivity Hub is a testament to our joint desire to offer customers flexible cloud solutions that best meet their customers’ needs. The benefit to customers is that organisations from multiple sectors can now access popular Microsoft applications which were previously only available via the public cloud.”

The flexible nature of Capita Private Cloud means that if a business experiences a sudden surge in demand for its IT services, extra capacity is always available. Customers have access to more than 2,000 pre-tested cloud applications via a self-service portal, allowing them to easily tailor, monitor and manage services.
