Backbone Connect partners with Sentrum Colo and its facilities in Heathrow

New partnership allows Backbone Connect to offer wider range of premium colocation and hosting services for UK customers.

Sentrum Colo, one of the UK’s leading colocation providers, has been chosen by independent data centre expert Backbone Connect to offer data centre services to its customers. Sentrum Colo’s state-of-the-art data centre is located in Hayes near Heathrow, and offers Backbone Connect’s customers List-X security and Tier III+ facilities.

Founded five years ago, Backbone Connect – ranked UK’s 10th fastest growing technology company by Deloitte in 2013 – provides creative solutions for its customers’ networking infrastructure challenges. The company’s network aggregates and interconnects with its selected data centres, multiple network carriers and cloud platforms, to offer increased resilience and flexibility. It has clients across a wide range of industries, including channel customers offering white-label storage services, SaaS and cloud providers, and marketing and digital media companies.

Sentrum Colo was selected by Backbone Connect, which also works with 13 other hand-picked premium data centres in the UK, to ensure it can exactly match its customers’ business needs. The data centre was chosen due to its reputation as a premium facility, as well as its robust infrastructure, compliance and strategic location, in close proximity to both central London and Heathrow International Airport.

David McLeod, Director at Backbone Connect says: “We are extremely selective when it comes to choosing our data centre partners – only the very best will do. We want to offer innovative solutions that effectively solve all our customers’ connectivity challenges.”

An example of Backbone Connect’s innovative approach to networking is its recently launched Backbone App for iPhone. The app offers customers an easy way to keep in touch with their data centre and network connections on the move. Features include on-demand information on customers’ critical infrastructure, power usage and internet access, activity alerts, such as when a rack is opened, and access to a live camera feed.

Stephen Scott, Managing Director of Sentrum Colo, says: “This new partnership allows us to expand our reach and provide our colocation services to an increasing number of business customers who need a secure location for their data and services. We strive to work with partners like Backbone Connect – companies with a great reputation and expertise in the data centre industry. Our teams have worked together exceptionally well and we look forward to a long successful partnership. Backbone Connect shares our main goal – understanding our customers and their business, to be able to assist where necessary and go above and beyond to meet their needs.”

David McLeod, Director at Backbone Connect, adds: “Our experience to date with Sentrum Colo has been superb – the team always go beyond the call of duty. Right from the start their customer service was exceptional as they deployed the first customer racks well ahead of schedule, while offering high levels of flexibility. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
