AppRiver, the cloud-based email and Web security specialist, has seen rapid growth since opening its EMEA headquarters in Switzerland last year.
Established in 2002 with 45,000 corporate clients, AppRiver boasts a customer retention rate of 93 %. Throughout the past decade, the company has successfully carved a niche in North America’s security sector - one of only a few vendors operating in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) space. With a presence now in 49 countries, AppRiver is focused on further developing its channel business in order to build upon its growth in the EMEA region.

In line with this strategy, AppRiver has today announced the key appointments of Ross Baker (formerly of Websense) and Jim Tyer (from Spamina) in EMEA channel director roles. Baker and Tyer will focus upon business development and growth of the AppRiver channel in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Benelux and DACH regions.

“I’m delighted to join AppRiver at this exciting time,” says Baker. “AppRiver is well established in the U.S. and growing globally. With their focus on the SME space - and the recent consolidation in the security market - there is huge potential for further growth in EMEA. Jim and I look forward to meeting new and existing channel partners in the coming weeks and introducing them to AppRiver’s leading email and Web security solutions, award-winning customer service, transparent and competitive pricing. We have a really strong SaaS security offering,” adds Baker.

With an established EMEA headquarters in Lupfig, Switzerland and world-class data centres in the UK, Norway, Zurich and Hong Kong, AppRiver is well placed to service the EMEA market. Working in close partnership with green.ch, AppRiver selected Switzerland as it is considered to be one of the best data centre locations in the world, with top class infrastructure, high quality standards, increased levels of legal security, economic, social and geographic stability plus comprehensive levels of data protection.

AppRiver attributes its success in the global marketplace to the fact that they've never lost focus on security; with the aim of ‘taking the IT out of the SME’. Based on their confidence in AppRiver's services, many existing customers have decided to eliminate the complexity and security risks of managing their in-house mail servers and move to AppRiver's secure hosted Microsoft Exchange service. AppRiver is a top hosted exchange partner and one of only a handful syndicated partners for Microsoft Office 365 in the U.S.

“We've grown rapidly by leveraging the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of the cloud to make best-of-class services affordable for businesses of all sizes,” says Rocco Donnino, executive vice president of Corporate Development for AppRiver. “And we've enjoyed an incredible customer retention rate because we back all of our services with Phenomenal Care™, high-touch customer service available 24 hours a day, every day.”

AppRiver aims to create a positive customer/partner experience from first contact, through pre and post-sales support. Believing that this unique customer-centric philosophy is their competitive edge in the market place, AppRiver offers live, worldwide customer support 365 days a year, 24/7. AppRiver’s Phenomenal Care service includes a 30-day trial for all services, no cancellation penalties and is delivered by in-house AppRiver trained staff.
