Enhancing business outcomes: Skillsoft's AI-driven skills management

Skillsoft introduces real-time skills intelligence for teams, developing the way organisations manage workforce readiness and project allocation.

Skillsoft has introduced updated capabilities within the Skillsoft Percipio Platform, including real-time skills intelligence. The enhancements are designed to provide managers with a more complete view of team readiness, aligning verified skills with projects that require attention.

The platform moves away from traditional approaches that rely on static skill profiles and training completion metrics. Instead, it uses AI-driven dashboards intended to help managers allocate talent based on validated skills rather than only historical learning data.

According to Skillsoft’s Workforce Readiness Report, 11% of organisations currently use formal skills assessments. The report also notes that 69% of employees report limited awareness of the skills needed for success. It further highlights that many organisations continue to use Learning Management Systems (LMSs) that primarily track course completions, without fully integrating this information into workforce planning.

The updated dashboards are designed to support more proactive decision-making. They allow managers to assess readiness, identify development needs, and assign team members to work based on skill levels. This is particularly relevant for organisations adapting to rapid changes in areas such as AI.

Within Skillsoft’s management platform, the dashboards aim to provide functionality to:

  • Act on talent data by prioritising projects based on team strengths and comparing capabilities against benchmarks
  • Identify skill gaps, including potential compliance risks, and guide targeted training
  • Support team allocation by matching individuals to projects aligned with their proficiency levels

By incorporating these features into its unified platform, Skillsoft describes its Skills Supply Chain as a way to combine learning, development, and skills data within a single system. This approach is positioned as an alternative to more traditional LMS-based models that focus primarily on training completion tracking.
