Infosys and ExxonMobil join forces to develop sustainable cooling solutions for AI infrastructure, enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Amidst increasing workloads in artificial intelligence (AI) environments, a collaboration has been announced between Infosys and ExxonMobil focused on addressing energy use concerns. The partnership centres on advanced immersion cooling technologies.

In the current environment, data centres across the UK and Europe are facing significant power constraints. To address this, Infosys has expanded its partnership with ExxonMobil to support the advancement and deployment of ExxonMobil Data Center Immersion Fluids. The initiative aims to contribute to developments in cooling systems for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) sectors.

The core elements of the partnership focus on AI-optimised cooling operations. Through integration with Infosys Topaz, the initiative seeks to enable real-time optimisation for cooling solutions and supports predictive maintenance and energy management. This approach is intended to support infrastructure requirements for AI and HPC workloads.

The collaboration also incorporates secure and scalable cloud deployment through Infosys Cobalt. This component provides a cloud foundation to enable deployment across hybrid and data centre environments.

The partnership outlines objectives related to reducing energy costs and carbon emissions associated with data centre operations. As organisations work to decarbonise digital infrastructure while accommodating AI growth, the collaboration is positioned to address those areas.

The solutions developed through this partnership are designed for hyperscale environments and regulated industries, including financial services, telecoms, manufacturing, energy, and government.

The initiative builds on Infosys’s broader work in energy innovation and cross-industry collaboration, with a focus on immersion cooling as part of data centre operations.

By combining these technologies, the partnership supports more energy-efficient data centre infrastructure in response to growing AI demand. It aligns with efforts to manage scaling requirements alongside sustainability considerations.
