Nokia and Nscale unite to advance AI infrastructure

Nokia and Nscale have announced a partnership to enhance AI infrastructure globally, integrating cutting-edge networking technologies.

Nokia and Nscale have formed a strategic alliance to accelerate the expansion of AI infrastructure. Nokia is designated as a preferred choice for supplying advanced networking technologies critical for the deployment of Nscale's AI-ready data centres on a global scale.

A significant element of this collaboration includes Nokia's participation as an investor in Nscale's Series B funding round, which strives to promote scalable and secure AI infrastructure amidst the escalating need for sophisticated data centres. Nscale, headquartered in the UK and operating worldwide, stands as an AI-native infrastructure platform offering an integrated suite of computing, networking, storage, and AI services through its owned and colocated data centres.

Through this alliance, Nokia has been appointed as the preferred partner, drawing networking solutions from its extensive Network Infrastructure portfolio to facilitate the establishment of AI clusters at scale. This encompasses data centre switching, IP routing, and optical networking capabilities, allowing secure, high-performance connectivity both within and across data centres, enabling end-users and applications seamless access. By applying these technologies, companies can augment cloud capacity with enhanced efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure operations within data centres are faster and more energy-efficient.

Additionally, this partnership allows Nokia and Nscale to spearhead innovation within the networking stack utilised by AI clusters and to collaborate globally on joint deployment initiatives.

Reflecting on the alliance, President and CEO of Nokia, Justin Hotard noted, "Demand for the build-out of secure, scalable AI infrastructure in Europe and across the world continues to accelerate. Our partnership with Nscale combines Nokia's expertise in IP and optical networking with Nscale's leading infrastructure platform and enables the innovation needed for the future of AI infrastructure."

Nscale's CEO, Josh Payne, supported this sentiment, stating, "We are focused on building the next generation of AI infrastructure, and strong partnerships are central to that effort. Nokia brings proven expertise in networking technologies, and we are pleased to have them as a partner as we expand across Europe and globally to help customers unlock the full potential of AI."
