Seagate Technology Holdings plc, renowned for its leadership in mass-capacity data storage, has announced a pioneering strategic alliance with Acronis, a front-runner in cybersecurity and data protection. This partnership is set to empower managed service providers (MSPs) and global enterprises with storage solutions poised to meet the burgeoning needs of AI-driven data growth.

Through this collaboration, the two companies will introduce Acronis Archival Storage, a secure, long-term storage solution that is S3-compatible, cost-efficient, and compliant, specifically designed for infrequently accessed data. This will be seamlessly integrated with the Acronis platform, providing a controlled and predictable cost model unlike other competitors' storage solutions.

A key aspect of this partnership involves the incorporation of Seagate's Lyve® Cloud Object Storage into Acronis' offerings, which is also S3-compatible. Lyve Cloud is engineered to enable MSPs to provide a seamless, cost-effective storage service. It boasts enterprise-grade security features, including encryption of data in-transit and at-rest, alongside role-based access control, identity and access management, and compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 standards.

This solution primarily targets MSPs and IT leaders operating within regulated sectors, such as healthcare, finance, legal, utilities, and public administration. These organisations must manage large volumes of infrequently accessed data economically while meeting stringent audit and compliance mandates.

The alliance will reinforce Acronis' capabilities of delivering mass-capacity storage solutions and unlock avenues for economic and compliant scaling of storage, essential for the increasing data demands faced by their clientele.

According to Gaidar Magdanurov, President of Acronis, the collaboration with Seagate aligns seamlessly with Acronis' strategy to offer integrated archival storage that priorities security, compliance, and cost efficiency. This is crucial, considering more than 60% of organisations today manage over one petabyte of data, necessitating strategic archival storage to maintain manageable costs while meeting compliance and security standards.
