Perle Systems empowers Gateway Fiber with enhanced remote management

Gateway Fiber enhances internet service with Perle IOLAN Console Servers, ensuring reliable access and streamlined operations.

Perle Systems, a provider of cutting-edge networking hardware, has enabled Gateway Fiber to elevate its service delivery by deploying IOLAN Console Servers. This enhancement comes as a boon for this Internet Service Provider (ISP), facilitating uninterrupted high-speed internet service across various states.

Serving areas in Missouri, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and North Dakota, Gateway Fiber's expansive network relies heavily on micro data centres for operations. Here, Perle's IOLAN Console Servers set a benchmark with their out-of-band access facility, allowing administrators to manage essential equipment and facilitate quick troubleshooting for uninterrupted service.

In search of a financially viable alternative to traditional equipment, Gateway Fibre's Senior Network Engineer Jeff Shilt explored Perle's solution. “The IOLAN Console Server gives the ultimate back door connectivity,” Shilt states. These servers, with built-in cellular connectivity, stand out as an affordable, efficient choice when using the serial console ports becomes a necessity during disruptions.

With the introduction of IOLAN Console Servers, Gateway Fiber has optimised its maintenance and hardware upgrade operations. Shilt remarks on the convenience offered when accessing equipment through the LTE interface, simplifying firmware updates and assisting field technicians during upgrades, saving time and expenses.

As Gateway Fiber innovates further, it retains its commitment to delivering exceptional internet experiences. "Any new cabinet we build is going to have an IOLAN for out-of-band access, and they’re awesome for that," asserts Shilt.

John Feeney, Chief Operating Officer at Perle Systems, echoes this enthusiasm, noting the significance of this partnership in maintaining high service standards and addressing network challenges. "Our IOLAN Console Servers are designed to offer robust and secure remote access," he states.
