Portus Data Centers Luxembourg first to receive SDEA Label

This certification underscores Portus Data Centers Luxembourg’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and the reduction of carbon emissions.

Portus Data Centers says that its colocation facility in Luxembourg has become the first in the EU to receive the prestigious SDEA Label from the Swiss Datacenter Efficiency Association (SDEA).

This follows nine months of rigorous auditing of operational KPIs which were independently assessed and then reviewed by the SDEA Board, including power usage effectiveness, carbon emissions and server utilization. Unlike traditional certifications, the SDEA Label integrates these key performance metrics into a unified framework, setting a new benchmark for data center operations to ensure alignment with ESG expectations and emerging global standards.

Patrice Roy, COO at Portus Data Centers Luxembourg, said: “This accreditation is in line with an ethos that Portus Data Centers Luxembourg has been pursuing for almost two decades, namely the respect for the environment and a reduction in carbon impact, with a clear commitment to the transparency that such certification attests to. This is yet another important milestone for our site in our endeavor towards a greener, more efficient digital infrastructure.”

SDEA President, Babak Falsafi, added: “Portus Data Centers is proving that sustainability in data center operations isn’t just about compliance – it’s about setting new benchmarks for the industry. As the first in the EU to earn an SDEA Label, they show how a clear focus on efficiency and emissions reduction, backed by proper measurement, leads to real impact. We congratulate Portus on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing them continue to push the boundaries of sustainability.”

“Achieving this certification is a testament to our commitment to responsible growth and future-proofing our infrastructure and operations,” said David Celis, CEO, Portus Data Centers Luxembourg. “As energy consumption is a key component of our data center activities, the SDEA Label empowers us to measure, optimise and lead the way in environmental sustainability.”

Powered by 100% renewable energy sources, the highly accredited Portus Data Centers Luxembourg facility is certified Tier IV by the Uptime Institute and operates in accordance with major industry standards, including ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO 27001, ISO50001, and EN-50600-2, EU Code of Conduct.
