New functionality provides more automation, comprehensive visibility, and contextual insights to help deliver additional value and strengthen enterprise security.

SailPoint Technologies has introduced new and enhanced capabilities as part of SailPoint Identity Security Cloud. SailPoint Identity Security Cloud is built on SailPoint Atlas, the company’s unified identity security platform. SailPoint Atlas helps many of the largest, most complex enterprises in the world manage and secure access to critical data and applications within a single, unified platform.

Updates to Identity Security Cloud feature three new capabilities—dynamic access roles, access model metadata, and data segmentation—and an enhancement to its existing application onboarding capability. The company also shared a preview of a new product, SailPoint Identity Risk.

· Data Segmentation: A core element of a strong delegated administration program, data segmentation provides layers of granular controls for administration at the data level. This dictates how identity and access data can be surfaced and enables separate administration for multiple business units in different countries while lowering the risk of violating company or data privacy rules.

· Dynamic Access Roles: With Dynamic Access Roles, Identity Security Cloud users have the ability to add contextual attribute values, dramatically reducing the number of roles needed to meet business needs vs. a traditional role model. This approach will reduce role sprawl, deliver a more business user-centric access model, and reduce the maintenance burden.

· Access Model Metadata: By allowing customers to enrich roles, access profiles, and entitlements with business context in the form of custom metadata attributes, Identity Security Cloud users can expand their identity data sets and provide greater context. Adding context to access items can help power richer artificial intelligence (AI) insights that enable more informed decisions.

· Application Onboarding: With the help of AI and automation, organizations can discover and onboard applications quickly and seamlessly. The latest enhancements include account provisioning, advanced application discovery such as the ability to quickly identify onboarded vs. non-onboarded applications, more detailed activity notifications and account correlation mapping recommendations. The inclusion of these targeted, AI-powered recommendations throughout most of the onboarding process helps our customers achieve faster provisioning and better governance outcomes.

· SailPoint Identity Risk: SailPoint Identity Risk is a new limited-availability product that will be offered as part of SailPoint Identity Security Cloud. The new product can provide enhanced visibility into user sessions (both human and machine), as well as contextual insights into identity behaviors. Additionally, SailPoint Identity Risk will include the ability to implement proactive security responses and continuous risk assessments before, during, or after threats are detected.

“Identities are a prime target for today’s attackers, and modern enterprises must be able to manage and secure those identities in a holistic manner,” said Matt Mills, President, SailPoint. “By providing a unified identity security platform that allows enterprises to manage workforce, nonemployee, and machine identities under a single umbrella, SailPoint reduces friction and enables increased security without compromising productivity. SailPoint’s commitment to continuous innovation helps keep customers protected against evolving threats.”

Agentic AI Tool Preview

Lastly, in conjunction with SailPoint’s Navigate user conference, the company also pulled back the curtain on its agentic AI tool, which will provide users with an intelligent assistant capable of answering questions about their identity solution and driving governance and security actions in a simple, conversation-based format. SailPoint will preview the new capability this week at Navigate 2024, with plans to make it generally available to SailPoint customers during the first half of 2025. The agentic solution will be overlaid on SailPoint Identity Security Cloud, providing users with a simple and intelligent way to answer many of their most pressing identity management and security questions.
