Panduit G6 PDUs focuses on high performance and cybersecurity

Panduit has launched its G6 PDU (Power Distribution Unit) Series. The Panduit G6 PDU integrates the best-in-class, low-profile form factor with enhanced onboard intelligence into one essential data cabinet power distribution device, providing faster performance and additional power, environment and security functions and cybersecurity improvements.

The low-profile design improves airflow around the rack space, while the unique outlet design offers increased density of rack IT equipment. With this in mind, component quality was essential and is guaranteed to withstand temperatures of up to 60oC (140oF) for extended periods at full load. This quality build allows the G6 system to be offered with a 3-year standard and 6-year extended warranty.

This latest design provides Hot Swappable Network Module, with Power Share for simple upgrades, and includes a high visibility OLED, two sensor ports, a serial port and quick navigation and access buttons. Moreover, the dual 1GB network ports can daisy chain up to 32 PDUs on a single IP address and network switch. Furthermore, the G6 PDU is compatible with C13/15 and C13/C15/C19/C21 combination outlets offering increased capabilities.

Martin Kandziora, Senior Marketing Manager, Panduit EMEA, stated, “The Panduit G6 PDUs lead the class with a significant step forward in cybersecurity at a data centre appliance level. At a time of fast evolving data centre infrastructure requirements, the G6 PDU demonstrates Panduit’s commitment to efficient and effective data centre operation as a platform for mission critical applications.”

The G6 PDU provides real-time monitoring of power, environmental and physical access security, through a user selectable range of environmental and rack access digital sensors, that continuously scan for anomalies. In line with current sustainability requirements, the G6 PDU provides high-accuracy, billing-grade metering capabilities, together with a range of PDU level power metering, and user customisable alarm thresholds and notifications. The user experience is enhanced whether on or off-site via the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) WebGUI which detects the type of access device and auto adjusts the screen for optimal experience.

Intelligent PDUs such as the G6 provide customers with comprehensive, accurate, energy measurement data to efficiently use power resources, improve uptime, measure power usage effectiveness and drive green data centre initiatives, together with the opportunity to save energy and money.
