Maureen Leary joins Verne as VP Business Development

Verne has announced another key addition to its senior leadership team with the appointment of Maureen Leary as Vice President of Business Development.

Based at Verne’s headquarters in London, Leary will help steer the strategic direction of the company, identifying opportunities to expand its Northern European data center platform, while at the same time helping the company realise its ambitious environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.

Leary joins Verne from Amazon Web Services, where she spent six years working in senior business development roles within its data center supply strategy team. Prior to that, she had an 11-year tenure at Akamai, initially in the US, before moving to Germany to become the Head of Data Center Strategy for the EMEA region. Committed to improving diversity within the workforce, Leary is also the European Champion for the Women’s Tech Forum, a community of women and allies in the cloud, networking and data center infrastructure industries, for which Verne is a ‘Game Changer’ sponsor.

“Maureen brings a wealth of experience to Verne, so we are delighted to welcome her to our team,” said Nick Dale, Chief Sales Officer, Verne. “Her proven track record of identifying growth opportunities for some of the largest data center operators in the world together with her passion for improving the sustainability and diversity within the sector, makes her the ideal person to help us achieve our expansion and ESG objectives.”

“Verne has been a company I've followed closely throughout my career due to its leadership in sustainable innovation within the data center industry," said Leary. "With the recent surge in AI, machine learning and other high-intensity compute applications, the demand for data center services is at an all-time high. However, it's crucial that this growth doesn't come at the expense of the environment. This is where Verne excels, and I'm eager to help the company explore new expansion opportunities that are environmentally responsible."
