Verne has appointed Matti Tella as Technical Director. Based in Helsinki, Tella will be responsible for running Verne’s operations in Finland, helping to ensure the company can meet the growing demand for sustainable data center services during the AI boom.

Tella brings a wealth of experience to Verne, having previously worked as Head of the Helsinki Data Center for Telia. He has also worked in data center roles at Nokia and Microsoft, a natural progression following a long and successful career in the networks and telecommunications industries.

“It’s great to welcome Matti to the team,” said Kim Gunnelius, Managing Director and Head of Finland at Verne. “His vast experience across infrastructure, networks, telecommunications, and – most importantly – data centers will be invaluable as we face increasing demand for sustainable solutions amid increasing adoption of AI technologies and other complex compute.”

“It’s only relatively recently that optimising for sustainability has become a standard practice in the data center industry. But for Verne, this has been the priority from day one,” said Tella. “It’s an honour to work with such competent and capable people – right from the very top management down to the operational team on the floor. I’m excited to support Verne’s strong growth in Finland as more and more organisations seek sustainable data center solutions in the Nordics.”
