LiveAction has acquired CounterFlow AI, a leading network detection and response (NDR) provider. This acquisition will enable LiveAction’s current and future end customers and channel partners with a unified network performance monitoring and diagnostics (NPMD) platform that incorporates encrypted traffic analysis for security incident detection and response. The combined platform will streamline previously siloed network operations (NetOps) and security operations (SecOps) workflows, using common data, platform integration and improved visualization to increase the speed and efficiency with which organizations manage network and security events.

“NetOps and SecOps teams are facing advanced security threats hiding within the rising tide of encrypted traffic, and losing an inordinate amount of time coordinating to triage alerts and potential incidents,” said Stephen Stuut, CEO of LiveAction. “Businesses today need end-to-end visibility for both network performance and security management, which is why CounterFlow AI’s cutting-edge NDR capabilities are such a perfect match for our platform. Once integrated, our customers and partners can streamline NetOps and SecOps workflows, protect against encrypted threats, ensure the network meets business objectives, and increase overall productivity to reduce the costs of operating and securing the network.”

According to Google’s Transparency Report, encrypted traffic has increased from roughly 50% in 2014 to between 80% and 90% today. CounterFlow AI’s unique security portfolio will help LiveAction partners and customers gain end-to-end network visibility into that traffic. Its Streaming Machine Learning Engine processes packet data in real-time and at enterprise network speeds, while its advanced traffic analysis capabilities extract unique metadata to examine potentially malicious packet behaviors, automate alert triage processes, and more.

This level of encrypted traffic analysis and actionable insight complements LiveAction’s existing monitoring capabilities and supports more effective network and security management. For instance, NetOps teams analyzing network or application performance issues can more easily access security intelligence to detect or rule out cyber attacks as the root cause. Conversely, SecOps teams will have access to deeper network, device and application analytics that can improve threat detection, correlation and response. Overall, the integrated solutions will enhance NetOps and SecOps teams’ productivity, efficacy and speed when it comes to detecting and resolving incidents.

“LiveAction has always been a leader in the network management market, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to help expand that legacy with CounterFlow AI’s extensive network detection and response capabilities,” said Bill Cantrell, CEO of CounterFlow AI. “There’s a tremendous amount of demand and opportunity around integrated network performance management and security, and we believe that our combined solutions can help enterprise NetOps and SecOps teams collaborate more effectively.”
