Equinix appoints Eugene Bergen Henegouwen as President, EMEA

Equinix has appointed Eugene Bergen Henegouwen as President, EMEA. In this role, Eugene Bergen will oversee the business in that region, ensuring alignment across all functions to achieve regional business objectives. He will manage the Country Managing Directors, the regional Corporate Development team and regional Business Development teams to ensure the company continues to drive high returns on its investments and accelerates interconnection growth.

Eugene Bergen succeeds Eric Schwartz who served as President, EMEA, since 2008 and was appointed to Chief Strategy and Development Officer, overseeing Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development, Business Development, Real Estate, Capital Planning and the company's hyperscale initiatives.


·       Eugene Bergen Henegouwen joined Equinix in 2013 as Senior Vice President of Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In his previous role as SVP of Sales for EMEA revenues tripled in six years. He built a strong field sales organization covering 15 countries, a highly successful regional corporate sales team and a full-scale dedicated channel organization. He has reinforced a strong drive in the sales teams to become trusted advisers by understanding the challenges of Equinix customers on their path to digital transformation. During his tenure as a sales leader, he has brought a substantial number of high performers into key sales leadership positions who have been key drivers of Equinix’s success in EMEA.

 

·       Prior to joining Equinix, Mr. Bergen was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of EMEA for the leading global mobile technology firm Syniverse Inc. Under his management, Syniverse market share in EMEA increased to 70% in nine years. He held top-level positions in high technology companies in the U.S. and the Netherlands, including serving as CEO for IMC in Boston and as CEO for AVIO Digital Inc. based in Redwood City, California. He also held senior-level management positions with Philips Business Electronics and Philips Telecommunications and Data Systems.

 

·       Mr. Bergen holds both Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Since 2017 he has served as a board member of the global leader in 3D desktop printing company Ultimaker.
